Sunset Beach Park is the most common location for kiteboarders to go on a NW wind. It is a state park so expect there to be many other beachgoers and swimmers, especially in the spring. The launch can be small but once you’re out on the water, there’s an endless amount of flat water. It’s a perfect place to cruise around, and of course, watch the sunset.
Sunset Beach Park Kiteboarding Rules
- Kiters must yield right of way to all beachgoers and water users
- Always launch kites towards the water when wind permits
- Do not launch kites near obstacles or pedestrians within your wind window
- All kiters must use proper leashes
- Kiters on land and leaving the beach have right of way
- Starboard tack or right hand forward has right of way
- Stay away from the swim zone
